Lansing Civilian Defense

Description:
This collection consists of approximately 320 photographs from Lansing Civilian Defense preparedness activities, circa 1942 to 1944. Subjects include training and preparation for air raids, bombing, and blackouts; fundraising and recycling; Red Cross and medical preparation; communications including homing pigeons; public safety, police, and fire; vocational education; the draft; parades; and other related activities. The Civilian Defense Control Center was located in the old City Hall on the northeast corner of Capitol and Ottawa avenues.
