- Description:
- Two views. Photo b was taken December 21,1946. "How far and how fast the pioneers went in the space of a few years can be guessed from this stately mansion. It is the Frank L. Dodge home on Grand River avenue, the central portion of which was built in 1853, by James Turner, only a few years after he had put up a crude frame dwelling a block to the east. It was built on the highest point of land in the Lansing area, close by the Indian trail from Detroit to Lake Michigan."
