- Negative, glass-plate. Monochromatic glass plate negative from the studio of Louis James Pesha, entitled, "Launching of the Ashtabula at St. Clair." The photograph was taken off its starboard bow, from over the water, likely from a neighboring pier at Great Lakes Engineering Works. The railroad car ferry was side-launched--the ramp is on the left, the wave on the right, and aboard a crowd of people are bracing themselves.

- Description:
- One pencil sketch by Vernon Howe Bailey. The sketch shows a creek in the foreground with a shipyard in the background. One steamship is moored to a wharf and three others are under construction nearby. Cranes and factory buildings can also be seen in the distance. A handwritten note near the lower left corner shows "View across Ashtabula Creek." The sketch is signed in the lower right corner, "Vernon Howe Bailey, Ashtabula, 19."
