Booklet containing the Ninth Annual Report of the Commissioners of Parks and Boulevards to the Common Council of the City of Detroit from July 1, 1897 to June 30, 1898. The report contains information concerning the physical and financial states of various Detroit parks, including Belle Isle, Clark Park, Palmer Park, and Grand Circus Park, in addition to photographs and illustrations of scenes from various parks. This particular copy contains an insert affixed to the title page reading "To David Parsons: Compliments of... Edw. C. Van Lewyen. Commissioner."

"Park Commissioners," is handwritten on the verso below a label for the Royal Photograph and Publishing Company, with a branch office at 152 Gratiot Avenue.
