- On July 28, 1996 two bronze statues, "Girl With Flowers" and "Little Reader," were dedicated to the memory of Joan Rodman Schrandt and Lorraine Esch, respectively, two long-time Friends of the Saline District Library. The Friends of the Saline District Library and the Carl F. Schrandt Endowment Fund donated the statues to the library. Jane DeDecker, a Colorado sculptress whose works are placed at libraries, hospitals, parks, and other places throughout the United States, created the two bronze statues.; Photo courtesy Doris Kraushaar.
