- Part of a series of interviews in the Arab American community completed by Dr. Alixa Naff in 1962., The tape contains sections of four interviews. Dr. Naff speaks with Selma B. in Fort Wayne, Indiana; Charles B. in Fort Wayne, Indiana; Alexander M. in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Nazha H. in Detroit, Michigan. Interviews are largely in English with some Arabic., Selma B. speaks about variations in cooking methods, baptismal ceremonies, and superstitions surrouning menstruating women. Charles B. sings two songs, the folk song Barhoom ya Barhoom and a song about Charles Lindbergh. Alexander M. talks about his arrival in the U.S., the Shrine to the Virgin at Saidnayah, Syria, and the legend of St. Nicholas. Nazha H. talks about courtesy sayings. This list is not exhaustive., and Interview was originally completed on a reel-to-reel tape and was digitized in 2016 through a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Arab American National Museum.
