Selden, Deputy Secretary of State of the State of Michigan, dated September 17, 1895, declaring at the Articles of Association of the Springwells Volunteer Fire Department Company A were filed. The document is signed by Selden, bears a metallic stamp of the seal of the State of Michigan, and an engraving of the seal in the header. The certificate is mounted on linen.

- Membership certificate, designed by the Calvert Lithographing Company, from the Michigan Soldiers' Monument Union, awarded to Emma Landon by the Schools of Michigan in exchange for his donation of 25 cents toward the construction of the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument. The design includes a central image of two women, three uniformed soldiers, and a dog mourning around a flag-draped casket. Battlefield scenes decorate the corners of the borders.

The document was granted in Port Huron on December 6, 1901, and is signed by Egbert T. Loeffler, D.D.S., president; Frank O. Gilbert, D.D.S., treasurer; and Marshall B. Dennis, D.D.S, secretary. The golden seal of the State Board of Examiners in Dentistry has been affixed at the lower left. The certificate bears the mark of the Calvert Lithograph Company of Detroit.

- Certificate appointing Edward Edgar Hartwick First-Lieutenant and Quartermaster of the First Independent Battalion of the Michigan National Guard, issues September 11, 1903. The text of the certificate is as follows: "State of Michigan Military Department Aaron T. Bliss Governor and Commander in Chief To all who shall see these Presents, Greeting: Know Ye, That reposing special trust and confidence in the Patriotism, Valor, Ability and Fidelity of Edward E. Hartwick In the Name and by the Authority of the People of the State of Michigan, I do hereby appoint him First-Lieutenant and Quartermaster First-Independent Battalion Michigan National Guard to rank as such from the Seventh day of September 1903. He is therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duties of such Office by doing and performing all things thereunto belonging AND I DO STRICTLY CHARGE AND REQUIRE all Officers and Soldiers under his command to be obedient to his orders. And he is to observe and follow such orders and directions from time to time as he shall receive from the COMMANDER IN CHIEF, the General or other Superior Officers, set over him according to the rules and discipline governing the Michigan National Guard. This Commission to continue in force during the pleasure of the Governor of the State of Michigan. In Testimony Whereof, I have caused these Patent and the Great Seal of the State to be hereunto affixed. Given under my Hand at Lansing, this Eleventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and three. By the Governor A.T. Bliss. Fred M. Warner Secretary of State George H.
