- Description:
- One street map of Detroit and Eastern Wayne County that was printed by the Federal Lithograph Company of Detroit. The multicolor map is printed on white paper at a scale of 1.2 inches = 1 mile. It shows streets, street names, city and township boundaries, section numbers, railroad and streetcar lines, and the locations of new residential subdivisions and industrial sites in Dearborn and southwest Detroit. Several tables along the left side of the sheet give statistics on population growth, projected city boundaries in 1930, and leading industries. The map features residential developments of the "Glover Watson Organization" and the company name appears prominently in several inset advertisements across the map.

- One topographic map entitled "A Map of the Middle British Colonies in North America." The map was originally published by Lewis Evans of Philadelphia in 1755 and was updated by Thomas Pownall. This updated version was printed by J. Almon of Piccadilly, London, England, and is dated March 25, 1776. The map area covers the Atlantic coast of North America from Norfolk and Cape Henry, Virginia, northward to the Passamaquoddy River, Maine. The map area extends westward to Fort Detroit (Fort Pontchartrain) and southwestern Ohio. A small inset map extends the area of coverage to the Mississippi River. Map details are drawn in black ink on slightly yellowed paper with green ink being used to show colony boundaries. Map information includes towns and forts, mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, Indian tribal regions, and travel distance tables as well as lines of latitude and longitude. Township names are listed for the colonies of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.

Blue lines indicate paved streets, red lines indicate sewer lines, and the pale green areas shows fire service limits. Street names are also shown as well as ward numbers and railroad lines. The names of former ribbon farm owners are shown along the top of the map. The map was "Compiled by Eugene Robinson, City Surveyor," in 1873.

- One map entitled "Belle Isle Illustrated - A Descriptive Map and Guide." The map is printed in black, blue, and green ink on white paper and shows a plan view of the island. Roads, lakes, canals, and wooded areas are shown along with the locations of park amenities and various sites of interest. Seventeen small black and white pictures of the island and shown along the top and bottom edges and printed text in the lower right corner gives some history of the island. Several company advertisements are shown on the verso. The map was prepared at a scale of 1 inch = 720 feet by the "Silas Farmer & Co., 31 Monroe Ave., cor. Farmer St., Detroit" and is dated 1895. Separated is the accompanying soft-cover of the map entitled "Belle Isle Illustrated. A Descriptive Map and Guide Published By Silas Farmer & Co. Detroit." compliments of Union Trust Company.

In addition, the names of former ribbon farm owners (with private claim numbers) are shown along the shoreline of the Detroit River. The map was "Published by Silas Farmer & Co., 31 Monroe Ave., corner Farmer St., Detroit," and is dated 1886.

The map is printed in black, blue, and red ink and shows city streets along with ward and election district boundary lines and numbers. Although a symbol key is not given, it appears that ward boundary lines and numbers are shown in red ink and election district boundary lines and numbers are shown in blue ink. The map was "compiled by Eugene Robinson" and is dated 1881. It was printed by the Calvert Lithograph Company of Detroit.

The map is printed in black ink on slightly yellowed paper and shows counties, cities, towns, roads, lakes, and major rivers. Lines of latitude and longitude are shown with the lines of longitude being shown relative to Washington, D.C. A small inset map in the upper right corner shows "The North West Part of Michigan." A table of steamboat routes and distances is shown along the right edge. The map is drawn at an approximate scale of 1 inch = 22 miles. Printed text beneath the title shows "Roads, Distances & c. by J. H. Young, Philadelphia; Published by S. Augustus Mitchell." Printed text in the lower left corner shows "Reproduced by Beurmann-Marshall, Inc., Lansing, Michigan," and was probably printed c.1957.

The map is printed in black, red, green, and blue ink on white paper and shows streets, street names, railroad lines, streetcar lines, parks, and cemeteries within the city limits. In addition, the names of former ribbon farm owners (with private claim numbers) are shown along the shoreline of the Detroit River. An advertisement for "Michigan Mutual Life Insurance Company" is shown in the upper left corner of the sheet. Various numbered blue stars are indicated on the map as "Convention Tents" and these may have been part of a Christian Endeavor International Convention which took place in the city in July, 1899. The map was "Published by Silas Farmer & Co., 31 Monroe Avenue, cor. Farmer Street, Detroit, Mich." at an approximate scale of 1 inch = 0.5 miles and was dated 1899.

The full title block, located on the top left corner, reads "The Tourist's Pocket Map of Michigan Exhibiting its Internal Improvements. Roads Distances &c. by J.H. Young. Philadelphia: Published by S. Augustus Mitchell 1836. Sold by Mitchell & Hinman No. 6 North Fifth Street." The top right portion of the map features a listing of principal steam boat routes, including Detroit to Buffalo, Detroit to Fort Gratiot, Detroit to Chicago, and Niles to St. Joseph, indicating the distance to various points along those routes. The perimeter of the map indicates lines of latitude and longitude. Text along the bottom edge of the map reads "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1834 by S. Augustus Mitchell, in the Clerks office of the district court of the Eastern district of Pennsylvania" and "Engraved by J.H. Young."
