The text of the certificate is as follows: "For the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of American sitting at its Grand East, Boston, Massachusetts. This is to certify that Brother Edward Edgar Hartwick who has signed his name in the margins hereof is a Prince of the Royal Secret, 32°, and as such is regularly affiliated in our Consistory in the Valley of Detroit in the State of Michigan and is hereby recommended to the protection and fraternal consideration of all members of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite throughout the world. Deus Meumque Jus." The certificate is signed on the bottom by four officers of the Rite, including the Commander-in-Chief and the Secretary. It is signed by Edward Edgar Hartwick on the left side. The certificate is embossed with the seal of the Michigan Sovereign Consistory on the top left.
