- Black and white photo of a canoe parade on Belle Isle's Loop Canal on August 25. 1906, as shot from the bandstand bridge facing an adjacent bridge. Canoes crowd the canal. Most carry at least one passenger, and are outfitted with pivoting lanterns, and pillows. The seating along the banks of the canal is filled with spectators, many carrying umbrellas. Balsley, and Myrtle P. Hurlbut posed standing beside a covered horse-drawn carriage on a road, with a portion of a large wooded park in the background. The men are identified by handwritten captions on the board to which the photo is mounted. "Between [...] 1898," is also handwritten on the backing. The girl sits on the ground, while the rest sit on benches. The younger women wear hats, and light colored blouses, while the older woman wears a dark dress. Two of the men wear vests over their shirts, the third wears a tie and suspenders with his shirt. Hats and coats are piled in the foreground on the right. Other picnicers and a pavilion surrounded by flowers are among the trees in the background.
