Several of the canoes on the right are tied together in a chain, wrapped in fabric, and decorated with streamers and garland. Canoeists paddle their canoes separately on the left. A figure on the on the shore in the background on the left appears to be aiding in raising or taking down a tent. Several other park-goers are visible around the banks of the lake.

- Photograph. Sepia-toned gelatin silver photo of a parade float that was part of the Detroit Bi-Centenary Parade. The float is mounted on street car trucks and is decorated to show early French explorers who have placed a large wooden cross on land. Three explorers and a horse are standing on the float. A sign at the right side of the float notes "First Cross" along with several additional words that are not legible due to the angle of the sign. The parade is moving along a residential street with several houses and trees being visible in the background. There are about ten spectators who are standing behind the curb.

- Photograph. Sepia-toned photo showing the completed new railroad bridge over the Rouge River. Printed text in the upper left corner of the photo shows the number, "54," and "M.C.R.R. River Rouge Bascule Bridge; Old Bridge Being Towed Out & New Bridge Ready to Close in Place; May 3, 1920; Photo W. B. James, Br. Insp." The view looks northward (upstream) along the Rouge River and shows the old railroad swing bridge loaded on barges on the left and ready to be towed away by the tugboat, Samuel J. Dark. The new single leaf Strauss trunnion bascule bridge (in raised position) can be seen on the right. Many workmen and spectators are seated or standing on the river bank.
