Cilano discusses the political situation surrounding the British withdrawal from India in 1948 and the repercussions of the division of India. Cilano particularly highlights Operation Searchlight in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), which serves as the backdrop for the novel. Part of the Muslim Journeys Book Club series. MSU librarian Deborah Margolis convenes the event and introduces Cilano.
