- Ellen Schattschneider, professor in the Departments of Anthropology and History at Michigan State University, delivers a talk entitled "The empire's little sisters: labor and emotion in wartime Japan." Schattschneider talks about the role of women in wartime Japan, the role of feminized labor and the commodification of emotion during this period. Keller specifically talks about a group of 100 young women in southern Japan during the final months of WWII whose jobs were to keep Kamikaze pilots company. She answers questions from the audience.
