- Author and independent scholar Frank Bardacke delivers a talk entitled, "Trampling Out the Vintage: The Rise and Fall of the United Farm Workers." Bardacke explains the basis of farm worker power including timing work stoppages to harvests and the unique skill set which farm workers possess. Bardacke also talks about the structure of the union, its organizing model, the leadership of Cesar Chavez, and the significant challenges faced in holding a bilingual, multicultural, and international movement together. Bardacke answers questions from the audience. Bardacke is introduced by Michigan State University Professor John P. Beck. Part of the "Our Daily Work/Our Daily Lives" Brown Bag series sponsored by the MSU School of Human Resources and Labor Relations, the MSU Museum, and co-sponsored by the Chicano/Latino Studies Program and the Julian Samora Research Institute.
