- A campus authors panel, featuring Michigan State University faculty, discusses how their interests and areas of study in Native American history and culture became books. Susan Applegate Krouse describes writing and publishing her book, "North American Indians in the Great War" and Kimberli Lee discusses her book, "I do not apologize for the length of this letter" which grew from her dissertation on tribes of the plains. Lee recounts her experiences finding a publisher, revising the manuscript, and changing the notation style at the last minute. Heather Howard discusses her book "Keeping the campfires going" and comments on its origins, issues around getting it published and the implications of the cover art. Susan Lobo also talks about getting her first publishing contract and the perils associated with it and suggests that her book and the other books discussed by the panel compliment each other.
