- Print. Black and white photographic print, taken from an elevated vantage point, depicts the construction of the Shaw Building addition of the Newcomb-Endicott Company at the Corner of Woodward and Grand River Avenues. Pedestrians are visible on the neighboring sidewalk and thoroughfare; automobiles are also parked along Woodward Avenue. Rayl's Hardware and Liggett's Drug Store are visible in the left foreground, and The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store is visible in the background, south of the construction. The name of the photography studio and the geographic location are embossed on the recto, "Manning Bros., Detroit."

The construction site where the Cadillac Hotel was demolished to make way for the Book-Cadillac Hotel is visible on the northeast corner. Beside it are the Detroit Edison Company office, and the Washington Boulevard Building along the east side of Washington. Alexander Macomb Monument stands in the median of Washington. Cars and pedestrians are visible around the intersection. A shadow, presumably of a finger over the lens, is in the upper left corner of the frame.

A kneeling worker inspects a switch along the tracks, while another works on the windows overlooking the left side of the gap from a ladder. - Pere Marquette Railroad contract number 569, made with the Wayne County Road Commission in which the Pere Marquette agrees to install a 700 foot long rail siding at a road crossing 2.2 miles south of Plymouth. The document consists of a form envelope, an unsigned carbon copy of a letter from the division engineer of the Pere Marquette dated June 24, 1915, and a blueprint of the site attached with brass fasteners to an agreement signed by Pere Marquette's general manager, Frank E. Alfred, division engineer J.E. Johnson, and superintendent A.R. Merrick, as well as Board of County Road Commissioners chairman Edward N. Hines.
