- Mounted black and white photograph taken of the ruins of Capitol High School following its fire on January 27, 1893, as viewed from an elevated positioned across Griswold Street to the southwest. Icicles hang from the building's facade and surrounding utility lines, and rubble has settled around its base. A ladder apparatus, and a fire engine are on Griswold, near the northeastern end of the building. Several figures dot the streets. The sign for the Griswold Street Theatre is visible on the right edge of the frame. A moonlight tower is visible down State Street on the left edge of the frame. The photo is mounted on a cardboard backing, with the following handwritten on the verso: Jan 27, 1893 Detroit Central High School Fire 18 Engine Companies in the Dept. - Black and white street view photograph from a glass plate negative of Griswold Street. The side of a building and rear passenger tire of an automobile are visible in the left foreground. Pedestrians are seen crossing the street, walking along the sidewalk, and in front of the neighboring structures. Automobiles are parked in front of the Chamber of Commerce on the right side of the image. Also, construction is taking place on the Miles Theater; other commercial businesses are also visible in the background. Written on the verso, "Miles Theater, 1220-1222 Griswold, under construction, opened May 15, 1910."

Printed on verso: Griswold Street, "The Wall Street" of Detroit. On this street are located most of Detroit's financial institutions. The fact that the clearings last year were $1,484,000.000 shows the banking strength of Detroit. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Oct 31, 1917.

- Print containing three engravings, taken from the booklet, Souvenir of Detroit & Exposition, depicting sites in downtown Detroit. The top is captioned "Jefferson Avenue south from Woodward." A streetcar, perpendicular to the tracks is in the center of the road. "James Nall, Carpets" is printed on a building on right side of the street. Set into this image is one of the Chamber of Congress within a frame drawn to resemble a piece of paper hung with nails. The bottom image is captioned, "Griswold Street from Jefferson Avenue." The Campau Block on the west side of Griswold and the Newberry and McMillan Building on the east side are both labeled. A moonlight tower and the spire of City Hall are both visible in the background. Pedestrians and horse-drawn carriages are in the street.

The electric Myrtle streetcar is visible in the center of the photo, sharing the street with pedestrians and horse carriages. A moonlight tower rises above the intersection with East Larned Street.
