- Russian prisoners hang clothing in an outdoors disinfection chamber under the supervision of German NCO's in the prison camp at Guben. To prevent the introduction of infectious diseases, all new prisoners entering a prison camp had their clothing disinfected in these types of chambers. They operated using high temperature steam to kill any vermin or microbes.

- A Russian pharmacist works under the direction of German doctors in a well-stocked pharmacy in the prison camp at Guben. Medical units at prison camps had access to modern drugs and other pharmaceutical goods to help combat illnesses that appeared in prison camps.

- This Red Cross Post Card (Germany No. 20) shows a Russian Orthodox priest, in his vestments, and an assistant with a censor holding a religious service for Russian prisoners in the church in the prison camp at Guben. As the church is decorated with palm branches and one of the prisoners is holding palms, the congregants were probably celebrating Palm Sunday. The POW's wear identification bands on their upper left arms. This photograph was posed--note the soldier to the right who is still wearing his hat inside the church.

- With German troops in the foreground and sentries ringing the prisoners, several hundred Russian POW's assemble for a photograph in the prison compound at Guben. The Germans often divided up prisons into several compounds for security purposes.

- German officers give the non-commissioned officers the password for the day for distribution to the sentries at the prison camp at Guben. Security was a major priority at prison camps and guards would shoot if a challenge was not met with the correct countersign.
