- One block away, on West Ottawa Street, on the left, is the State of Michigan G. Mennon Williams Building, renamed from the Law Building in 1997. On the right is the 14-story Lansing Towers apartment building, also on West Ottawa. Also seen are several homes, many of which have been converted to commercial offices.

- Located on the southwest corner of South Washington Avenue and West Washtenaw Street. The Knapp's building was "Knapp's Office Centre" from the 1980s to about 2000. The use of South Washington Avenue for parking ended in 1989.

- Description:
- Built in 1871 and torn down July 30, 1923. Was located at the southwest corner of Allegan and Washington. The Woolworth building later stood on this site. This building was used as a temporary state office building while the present capitol was being erected. Three copies.

- Built in 1852 and torn down in 1870. Stood at the spot now occupied by the State Capitol Building. The materials in this building were used to build the Butler block in which McFarland's Drug Store was later located on the northwest corner of Kalamazoo and Washington.

- Seen from Michigan Avenue East. Looking north, W. T. Grant and the Tussing Building are seen on the west side of North Washington Avenue. The rounded roofline of the Mead Hall is seen on the east side of the block. Many people are on the sidewalks. In this photograph, construction has begun to convert the Princess Vogue shop to be part of Kositchek's clothing store. City Planning Division staff trimmed the photo and annotated its face.
