- The machine stitching on these boots is extraordinarily tight and fine--fabulous. Very narrow outer sole for a long, skinny foot. They could be wedding boots. Donor Mrs. Ethel G. Douglas, of 5th Ave. in New York City, was born circa 1885 in Pennsylvania. It is plausible that these were her mother's shoes, perhaps worn at a wedding around 1875.

- The donor indicated that this was worn by Betsy Ann Cowles Palmer for her wedding sometime between 1838 and 1840. Its styling is that of a wedding or trousseau corset-- lovely and decorative with fancy embroidery. Torso proportions are appropriate for the 1840s, and metal eyelets were not used until this time.Betsy Ann Cowles Palmer was born in 1822. In 1839, she married Charles Henry Palmer, a pioneer investor and developer of mines and railroads in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Palmer's had five children, Verena Palmer Beaudette, Charles Henry Palmer, Jr., Clarence A. Palmer, Virginia Louise Palmer Pickman, and Philomela Palmer Hoffman.

- Two piece woven ivory silk beaded wedding dress. Top features short sleeves with lace flounces, lace also around neck and down the front. Bodice has ten round buttons down front, each with crocheted covering. Extensive beading on front and side panels of skirt, knife pleats at waist, long train. Handmade lace. Originally work in 1884, altered 1904 and again in 1934. Except for part of the lower part of the skirt train, the dress in good condition. Dress stored with amber necklace wrapped in it. Phosphorous from the amber ate through the silk fabric, leaving large holes. Darlington Park & Co., circa 1880-1889.

- A pair of woman's off white, satin, high button shoes. The shoes have mother of pearl buttons, pointed toes, and medium heels. Marked inside: R.H. Fyfe Company. They were worn by the donor's mother, Mrs. Wm. Keane at her wedding, October 19, 1915.
