- Color photograph, taken November 1, 1958, of Herbert "Buck" Read and Mike Gary at fishing campsite in wooded area. Read served as head basketball coach from 1922 to 1949 and taught in the Men's Physical Education Department. Gary served at football coach at WMU from 1922 to 1945, and as athletic director and head of the men’s Physical Education Department from 1949 to 1967.

- Robert Limpus and Frederick Rogers standing in front of books, possibly the departmental library at Western Michigan College. Limpus became a member of the English faculty in 1947 and was appointed head of Basic Studies in 1956. He became Dean of General Studies in 1965 and retired in 1970. Rogers became a member of the English faculty in 1946 and was chair of the Department in 1956 until his retirement in 1971.

- Faculty members and 1952-1953 Fellowship awardees, Ralph Miller, Chester Hunt, and Elsworth Woods, standing around a globe. Ralph N. Miller, associate professor of English since 1946, was awarded a grant given by the Fund for the Advancement of Education, a branch of the Ford Foundation, to study in the United States. Chester L. Hunt, associate professor of sociology, was awarded a Fulbright grant for the 1952-53 school year to serve as a lecturer in sociology at the University of the Philippines. Elsworth Woods, professor of the political science department from 1949-1955, was selected for an instructorship in general education at Harvard University. After completing this study period, he headed of the Basic Studies program.

- Leslie and Aletha Kenoyer in greenhouse adjacent to Science Hall (West Hall) at Western State Teachers College. Leslie Kenoyer taught in the biology department and also served as chair from 1923-1953. The Science Building, also know as West Hall and Natural Science Building, was the second building to open at the Western State Normal School in 1915.

Knobbs taught in the English Department from 1921 to 1965. Minnie D. Loutzenhiser taught in the English Department from 1923 to 1957. Edith M. Eicher taught in the English Department from 1925 to 1954.

- President James Miller conferring an honorary Doctor of Humanities to Russell C. Williams at Commencement on June 6, 1964. Behind James Miller and Russell Williams sits faculty in academic regalia. A blinded World War II Veteran, Williams was the first Chief of the Blind Rehabilitation Section of the Veterans Administration's Department of Medicine and Surgery. Williams had been serving as a counselor for blinded soldiers at Valley Forge, and also participated in both blind rehabilitation training programs at Valley Forge and Avon Old Farms.
