- Keith Groty, former director of the Michigan State University School of Labor and Industrial Relations (SLIR), talks about his family, education and his career as a professor, labor mediator, arbitrator, and negotiator and finally becoming MSU's Assistant Vice President of Personnel and Employee Relations. Groty also talks about attempts to create a faculty union at MSU and the history of the MSU Faculty Grievance Office which he says was an attempt by the MSU to stop another push by faculty for unionization. Groty is interviewed by John Revitte, MSU professor emeritus of Labor and Industrial Relations, via telephone.

- Elizabeth Byington describes her suburban Detroit family life and tells how her aspirations have changed between high school and her sophomore year at Michigan State University. Byington says she no longer has an immediate interest in marriage and children and has changed her major to something which she finds more satisfying. Byington also discusses her college experiences, the quality of her professors, career possibilities, and her hopes for the future. Byington says she expects to enjoy her future career and although her peers are much too focused on material things, she does not think that they deserve to be labeled the "me generation".

- In an oral history interview, Gladys Beckwith, professor emerita of American Thought and Language at Michigan State University, talks about earning her doctorate from MSU, staying on to teach and and later becoming interested in faculty governance issues and faculty unionization as she began to see that professors had little involvement in the decisions which affected them and the great disparity in faculty compensation between departments and gender. Beckwith also talks about suing MSU for sex discrimination, unsuccessful attempts by faculty to unionize, and colleges around the country using more and more part time faculty, which calls a national disgrace. Beckwith is interviewed by John Revitte, MSU professor of Labor and Industrial Relations and current Faculty Grievance Officer.

- Michael Rubner, Michigan State University's longest serving Faculty Grievance Official, talks about being born in Palestine and emigrating to the U.S., his education and what brought him to James Madison College at MSU in 1970. He also talks about why the FGO position interested him and his role in the creation of a grievance manual. Rubner says that he inherited an office which did not run smoothly and discusses the steps he took to improve things and that he decided to leave the position because of two faculty members who "made his life miserable". Rubner is interviewed by MSU Professor John Revitte, who himself is a former FGO. Revitte also reflects upon some of his experiences in the office and his revisions to the grievance manual.

- Frank Telewski, professor of Plant Biology and curator of the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden and Campus Arboretum at Michigan State University, delivers a talk entitled, "Keeping MSU green! Replenishing the campus arboretum." Telewski describes the campus as an arboretum containing over 48,000 trees and shrubs and discusses the many historic trees on campus and the more recently planted trees and how all are used in research, teaching, and outreach. Telewski says that trees don't live forever and talks about the program to grow and plant new trees and shrubs on campus. He answers questions from the audience. The event is convened by MSU Librarian Susan Kendall.

- In an oral history interview, Ed Barton, volunteer curator of the "Changing Men Collection" in the Michigan State University Libraries' Special Collections unit, talks about the history and development of the collection and the men's movement itself. Barton says that the collection began with a donation facilitated by MSU Professor Bruce Curtis and has continued to grow robustly based upon Barton's support and active gathering of conference materials. Barton also outlines the core tenets of the different branches of the men's movement and says that his own involvement in the movement has helped him develop the collection.

- Chris Yarborough, intern for the Christman Company in Lansing, Michigan and a student majoring in Construction Management at MSU, talks about his duties on the project to renovate, restore, and construct new portions of the Snyder-Phillips Halls complex to house the new Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) on the campus of Michigan State University. Yarborough explains the work he does to facilitate the work of the management team and he describes other projects on which he has worked and how he settled on his major. Ends abruptly.

- Professor and turfgrass expert James Beard talks about how he began to assemble what became an extensive collection of turfgrass research from many sources, including research papers, books, academic journals, and periodicals. Beard describes some of the items that make up the collection, including his own correspondence and manuscripts and discusses some of the characteristics of grasses and their management for golf courses, sports fields, and parks. Beard says that his career allowed him to travel the world as a consultant on turfgrass and talks about his varied academic pursuits and what lead him to teach at Michigan State University in the early 1960s.

- In an oral history interview, Don Stevens, former Michigan State University trustee and AFL-CIO board member, talks about conflicts within the leadership of the state AFL-CIO, how he came to head the state CIO Education Department, and visiting Europe in order to help unions in postwar Europe reestablish themselves. Stevens describes efforts to influence elections, endorsing John Swainson for Governor, and tax issues involving Detroit which cost Swainson reelection. He also talks about the creation of the labor center at MSU, the start of Oakland University as a separate institution during his time as an MSU trustee, and John Hannah's presidency of MSU. He closes by considering what that the labor movement in Michigan has accomplished, what it has meant to him, and the threats it is under. - In the second of two interviews, Donna Zischke, former Michigan State University director of Academic Human Resources, reflects on her MSU career which began in the 1970s and her evolving responsibilities regarding the Faculty Grievance Policy (FGP) and Faculty Grievance Official (FGO). Zischke talks about her interactions with the MSU Board of Trustees, former MSU administrators and FGOs she worked with, the impact which successive MSU presidents had on the evolution of the FGP, the differences between FGP grievances and standard employment law and how MSU faculty unionization attempts influenced the development of the FGP and FGO's office. Zischke is interviewed by Robert Banks, former MSU associate provost and associate vice president for Academic Human Resources and John Revitte, MSU professor emeritus in the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations.
