- Photograph. Black and white photo entitled "17 Employees of the Edison Illuminating Co., Detroit, Michigan. March, 1893." The photo shows 17 men who are dressed in work attire and are seated or standing outdoors. A brick building with three large windows can be seen in the background (probably the Edison Illuminating Company building on Washington Boulevard at State Street). The names of the employees are noted along the bottom of the photo as follows: "Left to right: Top Row: John A. Ash, Thomas J. Blackley, Walter J. Colladay, James W. Bishop, 'Sandy' Sharp, Henry Ford, John Dixon, Patrick Cunningham. Center Row: H. Ward Noble, George W. Cato. Bottom Row: James Sullivan, J. Eugene Lee, Wright B. Thompson, Frank T. Mather, John W. McNamara, George A Crawford, Burt Pettit." Several names are marked with an asterisk to indicate that they are deceased. A typewritten label on the verso shows "No. 68849. Those known to be living today (4/24/41) are: Colladay, bishop, Sharp, Ford, Cato, Thompson, and Mather. Those known to be dead are: Ash, Blackley, Dixon, Cunningham, Sullivan, Noble, Lee, McNamara, Crawford, and Pettit." - Photograph. Sepia-toned photo of a halftone image that is entitled, "Engine and Dynamo Room." The image shows an interior view of a 2-story power plant building which has two rows of belt-driven dynamos (left) that are being powered by a single row of steam engines (right). Handwritten text on the verso shows "Engine and Dynamo Room, Brush Electric, 1903." This power plant building may be the Foundry Street plant that was originally owned by the Brush Electric Light Company. This power plant was located on the east side of Foundry Street (now Beecher Avenue) just north of the Michigan Central Railroad track crossing.

The view looks northward and shows several workmen who are constructing wooden forms on the trusses in order to contain the poured concrete that will create the counterweights. Two construction cranes can be seen in the background. The 2-story brick building for the bridge operator is visible at the far right side. The ground is lightly covered with snow.

The view shows several trench excavations in the foreground that have been reinforced with timber shoring and bracing. A wooden trestle bridge for the railroad track can be seen at the left side of the photo. A construction crane (number "6"), piles of construction materials, and several buildings are visible in the right background area. Several sections of large diameter riveted steel pipe are visible in the foreground and right background.

- Photograph. Sepia-toned photo showing two men who are standing beside a railroad track switch. Handwritten text on the left and upper edges of the photo shows "During Switchmens Strike" and "Volunteer switchmen, May 1920; Porteous, Div. Freight Ag't.; Ulrich, Ass't. Passenger Agt." Both men are wearing workmen's overalls and hats. Based upon the position on the text, the man on the left is Mr. Porteous and the man on the right is Mr. Ulrich. Handrails and other track lines are visible in the background. The photo was probably taken at a Michigan Central railroad yard near Detroit.
