- Description:
- This collection consists of materials concerning the J. W. Knapp Company department store that was located in Lansing from about 1910 to the late 1970s. In the collection are internal newsletters (the "KnappSack"--not a complete run), minutes, reports, some photographs, ephemeral items such as shopping bags and jewelry boxes, and other material. There are also photographs and some material on a Knapp historic district study and the renovations done by the Eyde Company in the 2010s. Some digital versions of the KnappSack newsletters, especially for the Christmas holidays, are attached to this record. The Knapp's department store was in operation from 1896 to 1980.
