- Dr. Joseph McCartin, professor of history at Georgetown University, delivers a talk entitled, "Collision Course: The 1981 Air Traffic Controllers Strike and the Decline of Collective Bargaining in the U.S." McCartin recaps the Controller strike and President Reagan's immediate reaction and then describes the relevance of the strike and its aftermath. Former Controller Rick Long describes his experiences and the effect the strike had on his career. A question and answer period follows. McCartin is introduced by Michigan State University Professor John P. Beck.
