- West side of Main Street at Fourth Street. The First National Bank Building is on the right. Also visible is the Harvey J. Taylor building, also known as Case Hardware. The building was destroyed by fire in 1968. The fourth building from the right is the William Tienken building, built in 1916. The single-story brick building is the Simon Grube Cigar Factory building, which later became Avon Cleaners. The adjoining two-story brick building is the Charles H. Allen building, built in 1899. - Description:
- The large brick building on the left with the balcony was built by merchant John V. Lambertson in 1868. Businesses in this building included G.C. Dennis Drugs & Stationery and E.J. Lambertson, who took over the business from his father. The next building on the right is another two-story brick building with a decorative cornice, built by businessman Louis Eugene Palmer in 1883. It housed H.H. Stalker, a shoe merchant and a barbershop. The single-story building to the right was also built by Palmer and was known as Palmer's Palace Rink, used for roller skating. By the 1890s, the front half of the building had been divided into storefronts. The two-story building to the right was also built by Palmer in 1896. Note the railing for horses in front of the stores. As of 2018, all of these buildings still exist, with the exception of the Lambertson building, which was razed in 1940 1940 to make way for the D&C Building. After D&C closed in 1993, it has been the site of numerous restaurants. Addressed to Miss Grace Griffen of Lenox, Michigan from Uncle Frank. - Description:
- Harvey J. Taylor’s hardware store was located on the west side of South Main Street and was built in 1889. In 1899, Taylor’s nephew, Charles Wallace Case, took over the store and it eventually became known as C.W. Case Hardware or just Case Hardware. After Case’s death in 1944, his son, Mason Case, took over the business. The building was destroyed by fire in 1968. Charlie Case is on the right and Bill Fangboner is on the left.
