- Description:
- A "Passion Cross" procession of uniformed Knights Templars on Washington Avenue, in May of 1921. That year was the 52nd anniversary of the Lansing Commandery No. 25's receipt of charter, and the 65th annual conclave. The Lansing State Journal explained the parade as follows: "Divisions form at Allegan and Walnut sts., marching east on Allegan to Capitol ave.; south on Capitol ave., to Kalamazoo st., east to Washington ave.; north to Shiawassee st., where they will counter march, forming the passion cross and returning south on Washington ave." The photograph is taken from the roof of a building near the intersection of Washington and Michigan avenues, looking north up Washington Avenue. Across the street are Woolworth's, Dancer-Brogan, the Plaza Theater, and many other businesses.
