- John Cantlon, former Michigan State University provost, talks about his career and the beginnings of the university's Faculty Grievance Policy (FGP). Cantlon, who came to MSU in 1954 and moved into administration in 1969, says that the FGP was created after a failed attempt by faculty to unionize and discusses how the procedure was created and what parts worked in the past and should now be improved. Cantlon also talks about the campus student protests, the founding of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at MSU, the search for a new university president, fighting the Michigan Legislature for funding and his relationship with the MSU Board of Trustees. Cantlon is interviewed by Robert Banks, former MSU associate provost and associate vice president for Academic Human Resources and John Revitte, MSU professor emeritus of Labor Studies.

- President Obama thanks the bi-partisan group of legislators for supporting the JOBS Act as he signs the bill into law. - President George W. Bush discusses his goals for his administration in his first State of the Union address. Bush spends the majority of the address outlining his budget plan, which includes reducing the the national debt and increasing spending on healthcare, schools, retirement funds, environmental protection and the military. Bush explains that the highest percentage increase of the budget will go to education, with $5 billion going into teaching every child how to read as well as increased funding to recruit and train teachers.

- Glen Green discusses his career as a machine repairman, tooling division worker and manager at the REO Motor Car Company, between 1937 and 1974. Green talks about his youth in the depression, hiring in at REO, his various jobs with the company, REO's eventual bankruptcy and the fate of worker pensions. He says that a family atmosphere was prevalent at REO and that much of a worker's social life was connected to the plant and its many social events and institutions, such as the company sponsored REO Clubhouse. Green also says, however that there were union-management conflicts and describes the famous Lansing Labor Holiday demonstration of 1937. Interviewers are Shirley Bradley and Lisa Fine. Recording ends abruptly. Recorded as part of the REO Memories oral history project.
