- Looking to the northwest, the Young Women's Christian Association building is closest. To the right is a corner of Plymouth Congregationsl Church that burned in 1971. To the left of the YWCA is the Federal Building with U.S. Postal Service and other Federal agencies. In the background are several State of Michigan buildings. - The state office building at the southwest corner of Washington and Allegan streets under construction in Lansing, Michigan. It was completed in 1871, and torn down in 1923. Text on reverse of card: "G. W. Wood & Co., Portrait and Landscape Photographers, Cor. Washington and Michigan Aves., Lansing, Mich." Written on reverse of card: "This is a sample of the pictures in a double glass framed viewer I saved as a relic the Kings had, but house burned and destroyed, can't say where I got it from as I am close to 89 years old now. T. O. D. 'The Old Devil' a nickname our two grandmas had for me. Emma E." - Taken from the roof of the State Capitol. The State buildings, beginning on the left are the Richard H. Austin Building, Stevens T. Mason Building, John A. Hannah Building, Ottawa Building, G. Mennon Williams Building, Murray D. Van Wagoner Building. The high-rise building on the right in the rear is Lansing Towers apartments. In the plaza, directly above the roof of the Capitol, is the multi-part sculpture named "This Equals That" by Michael Heizer; built 1976-1980 and removed in 2004. West Michigan Avenue resumes beyond the complex.
