- This collection was donated by its creator, Gerald W. Graves, who served as the Mayor of Lansing from 1969 to 1981. He included a letter briefly itemizing the materials, such as his tax plan, veto messages, and the annual State of the City addresses. Materials also include economic development and capital improvement project information. The majority of the materials are photocopies rather than originals.

- An oral history from Ralph Crego, a former mayor of Lansing. The interview was recorded on July 18, 1988, as part of the "Voices of Lansing" oral history project. Ralph Crego was interviewed by Joanne Jager of the Lansing Public Library. Rights release forms for this interview were never completed. A previous interview, also with no release form, was made on June 20, 1988 (see 1991-05-001.004). For this interview, a transcript is on file. The oral history recordings and transcript may be accessed within the library only at this time.

- Republican. Wealthy flour mill owner. Later operated private bank, then merged it into the first local national bank, an ancestor of Old Kent. Built Sweet's Hotel, invested in railroads, bred prize cattle, active in lumber and furniture manufacture. His home, built in 1860, is now the Women's City Club.

- Democrat. Originally a farmer near Sparta, involvement in township affairs led to election as county treasurer in 1886, succeeding his brother. Elected Grand Rapids city treasurer 1897-99 and caught embezzling $13,500 but was covered by bondsmen and escaped prosecution. Had manufacturing interests on West Side and was president of 5th National Bank.
