Description:: Approximately 500 slides, from the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Division at the City of Lansing. No index or any other descriptive information was included with these slides; the only identifying information comes from viewing the slides and sometimes text written on the slide frames. The slides date from approximately 1963 to 1980. The slides employ a numbering scheme like this: Z-1-YY Presumably "Z" is for Zoning, "1" (and other numbers) represent the particular property or project, and "YY" is the last two digits of the year. Because of this numbering scheme, the slides have been organized by year. A Zoning Procedure brochure from the City Planning Department, dated 1972, is included with this collection. These slides have not been digitized. Contact the library for access.

This collection is broken into two series: Series 1: Subject Slides. Approximately 4,600 slides divided into the same 28 subject categories used in the Local History General Photograph Collection (not all subjects represented). Series 2: Numbered Slides. Approximately 500 slides numbered consecutively from 2144 to 2215. These slides depict various street scenes, homes, etc. but are only identified by their number.

Description:: Two binders of slides from the Lansing River Trail. These mainly appear to be documentation of various development/redevelopment projects by a landscape architecture firm in the 1980s and 1990s. Many were contract photography by Leavenworth or other companies. Some aerial views are included.

Collection:: River Trail Slides

Description:: A 100-image slide show prepared by Helen Jacobson, using slides her husband Harold duplicated from older glass slides of unknown origin as well as some from the Leavenworth Studios. Harold Jacobson was a teacher in the Lansing Schools as well as Principal at West Junior High School; the slide show was likely prepared for instructional use in the schools. There is a script with numbers that correspond to the slides; the handwriting is not clear but it has been transcribed and a PDF is attached. The slide set includes an additional seven color images of the fire at Plymouth Congregational Church, February 25, 1971. The main slide set is of images already common in other photograph collections such as Edmonds or CADL's main Local History Photograph collection, but sources are not identified. All have been scanned.
