The construction site where the Cadillac Hotel was demolished to make way for the Book-Cadillac Hotel is visible on the northeast corner. Beside it are the Detroit Edison Company office, and the Washington Boulevard Building along the east side of Washington. Alexander Macomb Monument stands in the median of Washington. Cars and pedestrians are visible around the intersection. A shadow, presumably of a finger over the lens, is in the upper left corner of the frame.

- Photograph. Sepia-toned photo showing six workers in the Station A dynamo room of the Edison Illuminating Company which was located at the southeast corner of Washington Avenue (now Boulevard) and State Street. The view shows the workmen who are seated on or standing beside two of the belt-driven dynamos that were located on the upper floor of the building. The dynamos were driven by steam engines that were located below on the ground floor. A small, oval-shaped stamp in the lower left corner of the photo shows "The Detroit Edison Company." Handwritten text on the verso shows "Dynamo Room of Edison Illuminating Co., Detroit, Mich., 1903. Lower Row (L to R): G. E. Harrison, Walter Orr, Charles Benstein. Upper Row (L to R): Aloysius J.
