Herman Miller Sofa Prototype

Description:
This Sofa Prototype Group, in the collection of The Henry Ford, consists of five components; four prototype shells and one finished version. The finished version has one large tan-gray hopsack padded upholstered cushion with tan vinyl edging over a molded white plastic shell. The one-piece shell seats two. The frame is made of a single piece of metal with four feet that have white plastic glides and black rubber shock mounts. The four prototype sofas are made of different shades of red and gray plastic shell molds. The finished sofa is Accession # 89. 177. 37. 1. The prototypes are Accession #'s 89. 177. 37. 2 - 89. 177. 37. 5.
