Description:: Michigan State University Professor John Beck presents a panel discussion entitled, "Iron Ore, Shipping and Shipwreck: A Panel in Commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the Sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald." Panelists include Professor Michael Velbel of the MSU Department of Geological Sciences, Professor Peter Kakela of the MSU School of Sustainability, and State of Michigan Archaeologist Dean Anderson. Panelists discuss the iron mining and shipping industries, Great Lakes shipwrecks, and commemorate the sinking of the ore ship Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior on November 10, 1975. Panelists answer questions from the audience after the presentations. Part of the "Our Daily Work, Our Daily Lives," and MSU Libraries Colloquia Series, held at the MSU Main Library.
