The Russell Scrapbook

Notes:
The Russell scrapbook was compiled by Clara Comstock Russell (1866-1935), a key figure in the women's suffrage movement in Michigan. It contains clippings relating to the suffrage movement in Grand Rapids as well as the political activities of her husband, Huntley Russell (1858-1928). Both were active in several political, social, religious, and business organizations. Clara was Vice-president of the Michigan Equal Suffrage Association and later served as chair of the Republican Women's State Executive Committee. She also helped manage the family's business interests. Huntley Russell was a Republican State Senator, State Land Commissioner, and real estate developer.
