Saline District Library Exterior

Notes:
In 1991 the Saline Area School Board and Saline City Council approved the plan to create a district library, which would follow the boundaries and serve the residents of the school district. With a generous donation from Carl F. Schrandt, the library purchased an 11.34 acre parcel of land adjacent to the Saline HIgh School for a building site. In September 1991 voters approved a 0.9 mill request to provide funds for the library and to allow the Library Board of Trustees to borrow the necessary funds to erect the 16,450 square foot facility. Groundbreaking for the new building took place in May 1993, and an open house for the new Saline District Library at 555 N. Maple Road was held in January 1994.
