Polish Veterans Monument

Polish Veterans Monument in the Catholic cemetery on the West Side of Grand Rapids. Preston Ave. N.W. The monument is seen with heavy shadows and a black background. A madonna figure stands on top of the center pillar, with arms spread and palms up, wearing long robes and cape. On the pillar is inscribed “Polskim Bohaterom Wojny Swiatowej od Polonje w Grand Rapids Michigan.” Wings on each side of the center pillar lead to short pillars topped with large urn-shaped knobs. The left wing is decorated with a wreath motif, with “1914” in the center; the right wing bears a wreath with “1918.”
