Thurston the Magician

Notes:
Howard Thurston with a crippled child from St. John’s orphanage at the Powers Opera House. Thurston, in suit, topcoat and fedora, stands to the left of the image with his left hand resting on the back of a wheelchair with a caned seat. He is looking down at a very small boy who is seated in the wheelchair. The boy is wearing a cloth cap and heavy winter coat, and is turned to one side, looking at Thurston. A large policeman stands behind the wheelchair on the other side. The subjects appear to be on the street, with the curb and sidewalk behind them. A crowd of people is standing on the curb, looking toward the camera. The women are wearing warm coats and cloche hats; the men are in topcoats and fedoras.
