Lid with Figurine; Fayoum; Pottery; Paint; Clay (unfired)

Notes:
Long haired dog wearing collar crouches on rectangular lid (yellow) with hind raised high. Fur is rendered in long flowing strands. Tail is short and thick and lies straight out from body. Ears lie back flat. Dog looks up and to the right. Snout is short and rather pug; cheek bones bulge. Plane of muzzle is marred by seam. Reddish brown clay (Muns 5 yr 5/4) moulded hollow in two halves and sealed lengthwise down center. Traces of paint. Heavy salting.
