Invitation to the Independence Ball held July 4, 1831 at Woodworth's Hotel, addressed to Mary Catherine Brevoort, and dated July 1, 1831. "Mrs. Brevoort" is handwritten beneath a lithographic print of an eagle holding an "e pluribus unum," banner in its beak. "Mrs. Brevoort is again handwritten on the verso, so that her name would be displayed on top when the sheet was folded in thirds. A.S. Porter, J. Winder, I.S. Rowland, and M.F. Abbott are listed as the hotel's managers.
