- Description:
- Physicist and author Dr. David Brin delivers a talk entitled, "A World Filled With Cameras: Security at the cost of freedom? Or can we have both?" Just two months after the September 11th terrorist attacks Brin suggests that a "Devil's dilemma" has been foisted on the American public which falsely suggests that people must choose between security and freedom. Brin describes the new "security society" of surveillance, search and restriction. He says the tradeoff is neither necessary nor real. Brin answers questions from the audience.
