- 1931 photograph of a uniformed John F. Barnhill (1876-1941), director of community and high school bands he organized in 1924. The Ypsilanti High School Band was to serve as a feeder for the band he directed at the Michigan State Normal College where he had taught since 1922. (Another of his uniforms is on display in the Ypsilanti Historical Society Museum.)
