Contour lines are shown in a light line weight to represent the existing ground elevations and are shown in a heavy line weight for proposed ground elevations. The edge of the Detroit River (contour line "0") is shown along the lower edge of the sheet. Handwritten text beneath the title shows "Engineer Department, Washington, Aug't 20, 1867. The drawing (Job 247) consists of red and black ink on linen and shows a front elevation view and interior cross-section view of a 3-story commercial building located on Riopelle Street. The proposed building was designed for "Mrs. Mary Schmitt, Owner, Detroit, Michigan," and included two storefronts on the ground floor. This drawing, shown at a scale of 1/4 inch = 1 foot, was part of a set of eight sheets that were prepared by "J. Lawson Miller, Architect, Detroit, Michigan." A red ink stamp in the lower left corner of the sheet shows "Department of Buildings, City of Detroit. Oct. 23, 1912, Plans Examined and Approved by H. C. Slater."

The drawing consists of black ink on linen and shows a first floor plan view of the proposed addition. The drawing shows the locations of a store room, isolated ward, kitchen, pantry, dining room, central corridor, and an exterior porch with stairway. - Description:
- Set of seven architectural drawings of J. Lawson Miller's Job Number 253, a three-family flat building designed for R.W. Hawley of Detroit, to be built on the north side of West Ferry Avenue between Cass Avenue and Woodward Avenue. The plans consist of a front elevation, rear elevation, two side elevations, and floor plans for the basement, first, second, and third floors, drawn at a scale of 1/4 inch = 1 foot in red and black ink on linen with blue, green, yellow, and orange pencil shading on the verso to highlight various architectural details. Each main floor contains a three-bedroom apartment complete with maid's quarters. The basement contains storage space for each flat, a laundry room, a boiler room, and a smaller single-bedroom apartment. Each page is stamped and signed in approval by Henry C. Slater of the Department of Buildings of the City of Detroit, dated July 31, 1913.

- One drawing entitled "Plans for a Fire-Proof Comparator Room at Fort Wayne." The drawing (sheet 1 of 3) shows elevation and cross-section views of the proposed one-story brick building. A plan view of the ground floor is also shown along with window and door details. The plan was "made under the direction of Major W. L. Fisk, Corps of Engineers, U.S.A., and E. E. Haskell, Principal Asst. Engineer" at a scale of 1/2 inch = 1 foot and is dated February, 1904.

The configuration of the gun platform area is shown as well as contour lines which indicate the elevation and grading for the ground slopes in the vicinity of the gun platforms. Handwritten text beneath the title shows "Engineer Department, Washington, July 21, 1866, Sent to Col. Cram at Detroit with letter of this date. Rich'd Delafield, Bvt. Maj. - One drawing entitled "Fort Wayne Arrangement of Gun Platforms and B.H. Wall, and Method of Reinforcing Pintle Stones." The drawing consists of black and blue ink on heavy tan paper and shows typical plan and cross-section views of the gun platforms along the fort walls. The drawing was prepared by J. J. Lee at a scale of 1 inch = 2 feet and is dated January, 1865. Handwritten pencil text in the upper left corner shows "Note - Engr. Circular July 21st 1865 directs that all new platforms with outer traverse circles will be laid 1 foot lower than is now done. Before the reception of this order, the new circles of the main work were laid so that it will only be applied to those in the demilune." Handwritten ink text near the center of the plan sheet shows "Note. On water front of East Bastion, the gun circles were calculated for the length of the old traverse rails, 11' 7 3/4", from center to end, & the connecting stones were cut shorter than is required by Department drawings since received, as represented by the broken line m - n."

- Sheet 1 of a set of three architectural drawings entitled "Wesson Ave. View of a Three Story, Eight Stores & Sixteen Apartment Building." The drawings consist of black ink and pencil on vellum paper and show a front elevation view of the proposed building as well as floor plans for each of the three floors. The proposed building was located at the northwest corner of Michigan Avenue and Wesson Avenue and shows the name, "Soldoris," over the apartment entrance doorway on Wesson Avenue. The plans were drawn at a scale of 1/8 inch = 1 foot by "J. Lawson Miller, Architect," and are dated 1922.
