- Robert G. hill, Postmaster of Grand Rapids, holding a car from the black hand. The card reads: “We work after night: the city hall next.” This was shortly after the post office docks blew up, Nov. 12, 1924 (1927?) at about 5 PM. Side view of a man in a dark suit seated at a desk, holding a small white paper in his right hand. The desk appears to be a roll-top with the cover rolled back. On the top of the desk stands a gooseneck lamp, with some books and papers piled near it. On the working surface of the desk is a large blotter with leather corners. An ink bottle stands on the blotter near the man’s right hand, with a pocket watch or small clock behind it. A small ceramic pot is also visible toward the back of the working surface. An intercom is mounted on the wall behind the desk.
