- Kalamazoo State Hospital nurses, in uniform and caps, gathered outside. Names included on the back of the photograph include (order uncertain): Marie Marr, Margaret Madden, Wadeen Reddinger, Alma Allen, Mrs. Daalder, Bessie Van Trease, Krueger, Lucy Clark, Mrs. Hathaway, Mrs. Murphy, Viola McKinnon, Bertha Gay, Muriel Lawrence, La Monk, Ruth Stuart. Kalamazoo State Hospital, founded as the Michigan Asylum for the Insane, was renamed in 1911 and later became known for pioneering improved medical treatment of mentally ill patients. The hospital also was a pioneer in the creation of nursing and occupational therapy programs.

- Exterior of Mac Sim Bar Paper Company in Otsego, Michigan, featuring the new 180 foot stack at the paper mill. Emerging from two boilers, the smokestack was constructed of steel and installed the previous week. There are two men atop the stack and a flag. In the foreground are shipping materials strewn next railroad tracks. The paper company was named for Minet B. McClellan, Samuel W. Simpson, and George E. Bardeen.

- Photograph of soldiers conducting military exercises on the Athletic Field on East Campus, Michigan College of Education. View looking west. The Athletic Field was constructed on west side of Michigan Central Railroad tracks and opened for baseball games in the Spring of 1914. It was later used as training field during World War 2 for the the V-12 program.

Photo appeared in the Western Michigan Colleges News Magazine, Winter 1956. Mrs. Henderson is on the far left and Mrs. Harper Maybee is on the far right. Carter headed the School of Music from 1945 to 1965 and retired in 1979.
