- Diploma, printed on heavy paper and mounted on linen, from the Detroit Training School in Elocution and English Literature, awarded in 1887. The text of the diploma reads as follows: "Detroit Training School in Elocution and English Literature This is to certify that Carrie Louise Rivard has passed the examination required by this School on a two years course of study in the Art of Reading, and is hereby honorably graduated." Underneath the text of the certificate is a banner reading "Non finis, sed initium." The seal of the Detroit Training School in Elocution and English Literature is to the bottom left. To the right of the seal are signatures from Edna Chaffee Noble, Director, and Emma J. Clark, Secretary. Text at bottom right reads "Given on the 24th day of May A.D. 1887. Abstract Building, Lafayette Ave. Detroit, Mich." Text at bottom left reads "Calvert Lith. Co. Detroit, Mich."

- United States Army Diploma issued to Hiram N. Smith, Company I, 1st Ohio Light Artillery. The diploma shows Civil War scenes, with regimes marching in the background and Union soldiers standing, sitting, and laying in the foreground. A portrait of George Washington bordered by an eagle and American flags and a banner reading "All Honor to the Brave" is above the text of the diploma. The text of the diploma is as follows: "The United States Army Diploma This Certifies that Hiram N. Smith has served as a volunteer in Comp. I 1st [?] and has been engaged in the battles of McDowell, Cross Keys, Sulphur Springs, Bull Run 2nd, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and Chattanooga and has on all occasions been a good and brave Soldier." The diploma is signed by several officers of the 1st Ohio Light Artillery, including Clark Scripture, H. Dilgere, and Charles F. Chase. Small printed text at the bottom left reads "Entered according to Act Congress in the 1863 by Gibson & Co. in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the Southern District of Ohio." Text at bottom center reads "Published by McMullen & Gates, No. 143 Walnut St. Cincinnati."

The diploma certificate is printed in black ink on very yellowed paper and shows an engraved drawing of a Lady Liberty figure who is surrounded by four men that represent seafarers/shipping, business, farming, and industrial trades. Decorative script text shows "Business Colleges" and "This Diploma certifies that Henry T. Hunt has completed the prescribed course at this Institution and that his attainments entitle him to the consideration of the Business Community. Issued by the Detroit Business University at the City of Detroit, Michigan, this 27th day of April AD 1885. W. F. Jewell, Principal."

- Diploma, printed on heavy paper and mounted on linen, from the Detroit Public High School. The text of the diploma reads as follows: "On behalf of The Board of Education of the City of Detroit And of the Teachers of the Detroit Public High School We the undersigned, Certify that Bessie Margaret Curtiss has satisfactorily completed the Latin Course of Study prescribed for said School, and having uniformly sustained a good character for conduct as well as for Scholarship, is hereby honorably graduated from the same. In Testimony whereof we have subscribed our names and caused the Seal of the Board of Education to be affixed hereunto on this Twenty Ninth, day of January A.D. 1890." The gold seal of the City of Detroit Board of Education is affixed to the bottom left. To the right of the seal are signatures from John R. King, the Secretary of the Board of Education, William Voigt Jr., the President of the Board of Education, W.E. Robinson, the Superintendent of Public Schools, and F.L. Bliss, the Principal of the High School.

Davis "For designing & drawing This Diploma." The diploma is signed by the State Agricultural Society of Michigan's Secretary, J.C. Holmes, and President, Epaphroditus Ransom. The diploma's decorative design includes the Michigan coat of arms, crops such as gourds grapes, and grains, livestock, and various agricultural scenes, including people picking fruit, plowing fields, and crossing streams. The text of the diploma is as follows: "Alger Republican Club of the Eighth Ward Diploma This is to certify that on the eight day of February A.D. 1890 the said Club was organized in the City of Chicago in the County of Cook and State of Illinois. And among other business transacted General Russell A. Alger of the City of Detroit, Wayne County, State of Michigan was unanimously elected an Honorary member of the above mentioned Club.
