- Former Michigan State University Faculty Grievance Official Mary Brady, who came to MSU in 1972 to work in the College of Human Medicine, talks about her education and career and why she decided to accept the FGO position. She also talks about the status of the office when she first took on the job and all of the steps she took to improve the operation. Brady says that many of the faculty grievances she first encountered revolved around salary disputes and that there were tremendous variations between the colleges in how they evaluated faculty and determined pay raises. She also talks about why she retired and what she thinks that she accomplished during her tenure. Revitte shares his FGO experiences.

- M. Cecil Mackey, former president of Michigan State University and current professor of economics, discusses his education, career, and tenure as MSU President. Mackey talks about his efforts to maintain the authority of the MSU Board of Trustees and planning the Breslin Center while president and his time as an economics professor since he left the presidency. Mackey also reminisces about his early career as counsel for the Senate Antitrust Subcommittee and the Department of Transportation, as well as his early posts as President of the University of South Florida and Texas Tech. Mackey says that military conscription in both World War II and the Korean War had a definite impact on his education and discusses his opinions on the current state of higher education. Mackey is interviewed by retired MSU Professor Pauline Adams for the Michigan State University Faculty Emeriti Oral History Project.

- Michigan State University Professor Emeritus of Economics C. Patrick "Lash" Larrowe, talks about his family and childhood in Portland, OR, how his interest in working class issues and unionism grew and why he chose economics as a way of teaching about labor issues. Larrowe describes his early union experiences while in college, joining the Association of Catholic Trade Unionists, his service in World War Two, getting his first professorship at the University of Utah, and finally coming to work at the Labor and Industrial Relations Center at MSU. Larrowe discusses settling in at MSU and the people he worked with including, Jack Stieber, Charles Killingsworth, and MSU President John Hannah. He also explains the tensions between the Labor School and state conservatives and why the MSU faculty grievance system was created in the face of professors being terminated. Larrowe says he left the Labor School and moved to the Economics Department when his research and published material was threatened with censorship. Larrowe is interviewed by John Revitte, MSU professor of Labor and Industrial Relations.

- Jack Stieber, former director of Michigan State University's School of Labor and Industrial Relations, reminisces about his childhood and youth, early employment, how he became interested in labor issues, and the history of the MSU labor school. He discusses his military service in World War Two, his graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and Harvard, coming to MSU, and later becoming director of the new School of Labor and Industrial Relations. Stieber also comments on the operations and structure of the labor school, its funding, the pros and cons of hiring faculty without doctorates, faculty personalities, and his own areas of research. Ends abruptly. Stieber is interviewed by MSU professor of labor and industrial relations, John Revitte.

- In the first of a two part interview, Dr. Walter Adams, former interim president of Michigan State University and professor of economics, talks about his life and career teaching economics at MSU, and his involvement with the MSU School of Labor and Industrial Relations. Adams describes what interested him about economics and how the Great Depression, as well as the rise of fascism and totalitarianism, influenced his thinking. He talks about accepting a position at Michigan State College in 1947, his impressions of his fellow faculty, living in faculty housing, books he has written, the arrival on campus of Professor Charles "Lash" Larrowe in the mid 1950s, the power and influence of business at the university through the years, his run-ins with MSU President John Hannah, efforts to unionize the faculty at the university, and controversies around publishing faculty salaries, and ROTC on campus. Adams is interviewed by MSU Professor of Labor and Industrial Relations John Revitte.

- Michigan State University Professor Emeritus E. James Potchen, M.D. amd former chair of the MSU Radiology Department, talks about representing the university administration in the faculty grievance process. Potchen says that ninety-nine percent of the problems presented to the Grievance Office were the result of misunderstandings and that he didn't have to prepare very much for individual cases because there was so much redundancy in the type of grievances filed. Potchen also talks about why MSU created the faculty grievance process, attempts to unionize MSU faculty, the attitude of MSU President Peter McPherson toward MSU faculty having a voice, the move of the medical school to Grand Rapids, the changes MSU President Cecil Mackey made at MSU, his own role in the development of medical programs at MSU and his career as a professor and administrator at the university. Potchen is interviewed by retired MSU Professor of Labor Studies and former Faculty Grievance Officer John Revitte.

- Robert Repas, professor emeritus of the Michigan State University School of Labor and Industrial Relations (SLIR), discusses his career at MSU and the history of the SLIR. Repas talks about the school's directors, faculty, MSU President John Hannah's attempt to win favor with organized labor, the founding of the SLIR program in the mid 1950s, and SLIR being investigated by the Michigan State Legislature for being too union friendly and encouraging labor strife. He also shares stories about fellow faculty in SLIR and other MSU personalities, working with the MSU Board of Trustees, and a conflict he had with the UAW concerning his academic freedom. - In an oral history interview, Robert Repas, professor emeritus of the Michigan State University School of Labor and Industrial Relations, talks about being admitted to Ruskin College in England on a trade unionist scholarship and his tour of the continent during the post war period. He decries the failure of American labor to take a truly international approach in Europe after the war because of the fear of Communist influence on unions and how little the CIO, in particular, did to assist in the rebuilding the German unions until Walter Reuther assumed CIO leadership. He also talks about his staff position at the School for Workers in Wisconsin, teaching labor history, running afoul of company owners and conservative faculty and describes his "most productive years" spent working with the American Friends Service Committee and Hugh Rickert in Philadelphia and later teaching in union schools. Repas is interviewed by John Revitte, MSU professor of Labor and Industrial Relations.

- In a spirited oral history interview, Michigan State University Professor Emerita Pauline Adams, widow of MSU economics professor and university president Walter Adams, reminisces about her husband, coming to Michigan State College in 1947, living in faculty housing, and building a home in the faculty developed Lantern Hill neighborhood in East Lansing. Adams also talks about conducting interviews for the MSU Faculty Emeriti Association Oral History Project, teaching in the Department of American Thought and Language as tenure track professor and having James P. Hoffa, son of labor leader Jimmy Hoffa, as a student at about the time his father disappeared. Adams says that the ATL curriculum did more for the faculty than the students because it forced faculty to broaden themselves beyond their field of expertise. Interview conducted by MSU Professor John Revitte. Ends abruptly.
