- Michigan State University History Professor Ronen Steinberg delivers a talk entitled "Sex and the Bastille: the Marquis de Sade and the French Revolution." Steinberg traces Sade's role in the French Revolution from the tortures he described while in the Bastille to his position as section leader prior to the Reign of Terror. Steinberg also examines whether Sade was a revolutionary or just an ambivalent aristocrat trying to navigate a tumultuous period in history. Steinberg is introduced by MSU librarian Michael Rodriguez.

- United States Vice President Joe Biden criticizes Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for his comments against U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing lawsuits against Trump University. Biden says that Trump's comments are tyrannical and warns that Trump would defy the courts if they ruled against him as president. Biden also criticizes the U.S. Senate for refusing to grant a hearing to President Obama's Supreme Court nominee Judge Merrick Garland. Biden speaks at the American Constitution Society Conference Dinner held at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.

- During the first afternoon session on the fifteenth day of the impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton, Chief Justice William Rehnquist questions Clinton's defense attorneys and members of the House Judiciary Committee who are serving as "managers", the equivalent of prosecutors. The questions, which are provided by Senators and simply read by Rehnquist, focus on the nature of the arguments made by the Managers and Clinton's attorneys. Clinton's attorneys Charles Ruff and David Kendall defend their original arguments against conviction under Republican questioning. Managers James E. Rogan (R-CA), Charles T. Canady (R-FL), Bill McCollum (R-FL), Asa Hutchinson II (R-AR), Steve Buyer (R-IN) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) defend their arguments for conviction under Democratic questioning. Part two of four.
