- Denbow reflects on his upbringing, studying journalism, a stint in the Army, and his first job at Penn State University. He describes learning the craft of public relations before coming to East Lansing in 1982 and creating a coordinated public relations effort for MSU based upon portraying the university as elite, but not elitist. He describes the many challenges facing MSU as it attempts to stay true to its land grant mission and laments disinvestment in the state college system and suggests that research institutions play critical roles in solving current and future problems. Wade van Valkenburg argues in favor of the tax, claiming that it targets people who use the roads and will benefit most from their improvement, while Kalamazoo attorney and CIO representative Justin Brocado argues that the legislature should have adopted Gov. G Mennin "Soapy" Williams' plan to increase corporate taxes in combination with a smaller increase in the gas tax to fund road improvement.

The conductor of the orchestra, Herman Felber, talks about how he puts together the programs and gives a preview of some of the material which the orchestra will be playing in the current season.

- In this installment of "The lawmakers," Dr. Willis Dunbar interviews state Representatives Ural S. Acker and Wade Van Valkenburg. The two representatives discuss a variety of legislation which they have been involved with, including a failed appropriations bill to fund the University of Michigan and Michigan State College, and laws affecting recording fees and attorney fees. The two senators also report on the financial health of the state and speak about their disappointment in the partisan tactics used during the session.

- John Cantlon, former Michigan State University provost, talks about his career and the beginnings of the university's Faculty Grievance Policy (FGP). Cantlon, who came to MSU in 1954 and moved into administration in 1969, says that the FGP was created after a failed attempt by faculty to unionize and discusses how the procedure was created and what parts worked in the past and should now be improved. Cantlon also talks about the campus student protests, the founding of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at MSU, the search for a new university president, fighting the Michigan Legislature for funding and his relationship with the MSU Board of Trustees. Cantlon is interviewed by Robert Banks, former MSU associate provost and associate vice president for Academic Human Resources and John Revitte, MSU professor emeritus of Labor Studies.

- Glen Green discusses his career as a machine repairman, tooling division worker and manager at the REO Motor Car Company, between 1937 and 1974. Green talks about his youth in the depression, hiring in at REO, his various jobs with the company, REO's eventual bankruptcy and the fate of worker pensions. He says that a family atmosphere was prevalent at REO and that much of a worker's social life was connected to the plant and its many social events and institutions, such as the company sponsored REO Clubhouse. Green also says, however that there were union-management conflicts and describes the famous Lansing Labor Holiday demonstration of 1937. Interviewers are Shirley Bradley and Lisa Fine. Recording ends abruptly. Recorded as part of the REO Memories oral history project.
