The image shows a starboard side bow view of the ferry which has many passengers standing on the decks. The dock and buildings can be seen in the right background. Printed text on the verso shows details about the boat which was operated by the Detroit, Belle Isle, and Windsor Ferry Company.

The island is located in the Detroit river near lake St. Clair, and it connected with the city by a bridge 8 feet less than half a mile in length. It comprises 702 acres, is over two miles long and boasts over thirty miles of fine macadam roadway which completely circles and frequently intersects it. A fine zoo, aquarium, horticultural building, swimming and skating pavilions, casino and boat livery are in connection. The City has expended over $1,500,000 on it since its purchase in 1879. Printed on verso: Detroit Yacht Club, Belle Isle. - This handsome home of the club was built in 1905 to replace their former home, destroyed by fire. It cost $20,000. The club is one of the largest on the great lakes, features sailing and maintains a fleet of 20 one-design cat-boats in which the members sail weekly in regattas. Handwritten message on recto reads, "Aboard Str. "City of Mackinac" 8/8 06. Left Detroit at 9:30 A.M. for the Soo & will arrive tomorrow night. We are have a gay time although it is a trifle expensive." Postmarked Aug 9, 1906.
